MP Walkabout on 18 Dec 2010 (Saturday)

We had an MP Walkabout led by our adviser, Speaker of Parliament and MP for East Coast GRC (Siglap) Mr Abdullah Tarmugi, last Saturday 18 Dec 2010.

We started the walk from Jalan Greja at about 9am, and proceeded through Taman Bedok, Pesari Walk and Bedok Place. It was a lovely morning for the walk, and many residents came out to meet their MP. It was very nice to see some streets with really closely bonded neighbours who are friends with each other and have been living harmoniously with each other for decades. They even came up with ideas together to beautify their environment as a group.

Many residents staying in this area have been staying their for a long time indeed. Their reasons for staying: good neighbours, convenient location, and peaceful environment. The latter two can be found in many places of our beautiful country, but good neighbours do make all that difference.

Thanks to all our LENC and Siglap volunteers, as well as the representatives from the Police and National Environment Agency who turned up for the walkabout last Saturday. Last but not least, a big thank you to all the residents who came forward to say Hello. The smiles and harmony of our neighbourhood certainly made it an even more beautiful morning indeed!

Siglap Bowling Competition 2010 - LENC champions again!

This year’s Siglap bowling championship was held on Saturday 20 Nov 10 and the guest of honour was Mr Abdullah Tarmugi, Speaker of Parliament, MP for East Coast GRC (Siglap)

In total 20 teams were registered and LENC was well represented by 2 teams.

The team members were:
LENC 1: Leon Lee; Jonathan Hong; Samantha Tan and Freddy Low.
LENC 2: Kevin Tan; Nicholas Tan; Mitchell Ng and Michelle Ng.

The tournament was based on the best of 3 game series. LENC1 was the reigning champion from 2009 and everyone was gunning for them.
After first game, LENC 1 and 2 stood at 5th and 4th position. At the end of 2nd game LENC1 improved to 2nd position while LENC2 slipped to 5th. In the last deciding game, LENC1 proved that they were indeed true champions and came from behind to pip the leading team by 14 pins to emerge champions once again. LENC2 also performed relatively well and ended in a commendable 8th position.

Thanks once again to the organizing committee spear-headed by Siglap Lucky Valley RC for a wonderful and enjoyable event.

Congratulations to both the LENC teams and thanks to all supporters who turned up.We look forward to next year’s event where we hope we can do a three-peat.

Siglap Tree Planting Day - 6 November 2010

We are so blessed! No rain! Yesterday morning , it was raining cats and dogs
and the morning after the event, it was raining again.

The tree planting at Jalan Kasturi went on without a hitch. Four Salam trees were planted. And although the trees were already in the holes dug for that purpose, it was still very meaning to cover the trees with soil and then water them.

The party then proceeded to the Limau Manis Playground to launch the Limau Estate Community Lime Garden. Our Guest of Honour Mr Abdullah Tarmugi unveil the plaque.
and went on to inspect identification tags of all Limau plants. eg Limau Nipis, Limau Kasturi, Limau Bali and Limau Manis

The Gardening Club and Limau Estate NC members played host to all the guests at the function
and all had good breakfasts while making friends with one and all.
