Taman Bedok Street Party cum Dialogue on 25 May 2013

Melvin Ooi

There was  overwhelming support for Taman Bedok's first ever Street Party cum dialogue with Dr Maliki on the 25th  May.  Despite the warm and humid weather, everyone was chirpy and  accommodating; mingling and getting to know  neighbours they had not known before

The highlight of the evening was the discussion  on  Limau Estate Upgrading Programme that is  going to happen  soon . Everyone was happy this is happening and had  suggestions on what was needed in the estate. There was the usual Q and A session  where some residents expressed their concerns, but came away satisfied with the answers they got.

All in all, an enjoyable and enlightening session !

Thank you for allowing us to use the school premises for the compost sale.  We were lucky that weather was good on both days. Today's compost sale was overwhelming with many people on the waiting list, wanting to buy more. Unfortunately we did not have enough for the extra orders but  we have reserved a few bags for school use.   Some residents are interested to volunteer at the rooftop farming and keen to buy the vegetables.  Will update you on the list later.  ....

Cheers,
Judy

LENC Gardening Club Lorong Halus

Wetland Walk on 11 May 2013

keecheok khoo

Gardening club of LENC organized a Lorong Halus wetland walk on 11th May 2013 for members and residents. We have altogether 12 participants comprising friends and residents of Siglap.
The weather was good. All 12 were punctual, meeting at 3:30 pm at the car park next to Siglap CC.Led by KeeCheok of LENC, we car pooled to Halus wetland kiosk. After reading some exhibits about the history of wetland, we crossed the beautiful Halus Bridge over Sungei Serangoon, walked pass Sunshine Gateway along the waterway. The walk along the Punggol jogging/cycling path was very casual and comfortable. The only setback is the ongoing development of residential buildings along the way, otherwise the scenery is really beautiful. We turned back before reaching the Ponggol reservoir as by then we have already walked more than 2 km, turning back, we walked almost 5 km, total time taken is about 2 hours, which is within our plan.  We then proceeded to Giant supermarket for dinner.
